Jim,  try hamfests, online auctions of electronic equipment, etc.  There 
are at least 2 email lists for scanner-ham radio gear, etc.  There is at 
least one on qth.net, and I believe yahoogroups.com also has at least one 
such list.   Also, www.strongsignals.net  has a classified section for 
people to buy/sell/trade equipment.
