[Pro2006] A couple of questions

How do you have the antenna connected? A number of scanners, maybe
including the Pro-2005, have a BNC connector that has a "split fork"
conductor for its center terminal. As antennas get connected &
disconnected over the years, and as the radio undergoes vibration or
physical movement, the split fork widens, making less contact with the
center terminal, resulting in poor signal conditions.
If this is your problem, you can try using a needle or similar pointed
tool, and bending the prongs of the center terminal closer together, to
improve the electrical connection.
Inspect the center terminal to see if it's the split fork type or if
it's shaped more like a tiny drinking glass, or like the pilot bearing of
an engine flywheel on a motor vehicle.
If your radio has weak signal on all bands, this might be the cause of it.
If the weakness is only on certain bands, it's possible that your
problem is the circuitry that selects which RF amp/front end is used to
amplify the signal. There's a different RF amp for each band.
You can do an internet search using the model of the scanner, and you
can also search auction sites to see what these radios are worth. They
seem to hold their value quite well.
