A friend of mine managed to put the cpu board of a 2006 in to his dead 2004,
it actually worked quite well considering the difference's in the 2 scanners,
not just wiring but even impedance's were different in some of the
connections.
Seems that some CPU's in the 2004 did not like having the memory hacked and
eventually would start killing the new memory, even if it was the same as
what was in it.  Everything would run great for a week or a little more then
it would loose channels and start to lock up and do all kinds of funny
things, and sometimes it would go caca the first time you turned it of then
on again.
I have 6,400 channels in my 2004 and it is all computer controllable or con
be controlled from the keyboard.
