The Pro200x line of scanner isn't that good in the
sensitivity department, especially in the AM mode as you
have discovered. I guess all modern scannerns will beat it
easily. But the Pro200x does have good intermod rejection
and overload resistance that not all modern scanner can
match. The Uniden 780 have both better sensitivity and
overload/intermod resistance and outperformes the Pro2006.
I'll guess the BC895 is comparable with the 780.
All scanners are affected by high RF levels and will more
or less get their sensitivity reduced. At locations with
strong RF levels the Pro2006 will give a better reception
compared to many more sensitive scanners.
Thats why people still thinks the Pro2006 are useful as a
scanner but of course with a slow scanspeed and with only
a few features compared with todays scanners.
So, depending of the RF situation at the location, some
scanners will not work but others will. That's why we have
so many scanners to choose from and so many people will
have different opinions about the exact same scanner. They
are all right in their opinions, but their locations and
antenna/RF situation are very different and will therefore
give totally different results. You'll have to find the
best scanner for you by trial and error. There's no general
rules to follow when it comes to choosing scanners.
