Yes, My 06 was one of the last ones and it has an on and off switch, the 
earlier ones had a dimmer. I have left it off quite a bit which is probably 
the reason that mine is still working somewhat.
I do have a new backlight that I purchased several years ago and will install 
it when the old one gets too dim to use.
