Mine did the same thing a week ago. This was in the unheated shack at about 60 F. I don’t have the top or bottom covers installed and have several inches of open air top and bottom with no fans used. Two days later, radio came on with no power on BIT indicator and has worked well since. I usually leave it on 24/7 and have no problems with the power supply.
The power supply was not designed by Collins. The Collins design was too expensive so a customer selected vendor supply was used. That supply had to be modified to meet mil-std 461 as the customer required.
I bought several pieces of engineering surplus from the old Collins surplus store here in Cedar Rapids and used them to build my working receiver from three demill’d units that came from Canada.
