[Premium-Rx] Fw: TenTec RX340 Question

Last week I asked on this reflector about an RX340 that lost its memory every time it was switched off. For the benefit of anyone else who has that problem, the issue was indeed the battery for the battery-backed RAM, U3. Below is information from Chuck Yarbrough, KI4BJZ, about the specific type of battery needed.

Thanks to all who responded to my request for info.

Art—

It does sound like the Backup battery has failed. I believe that the original model/type is still commercially available.

It is available on Amazon:

You can’t miss the battery—it is bright yellow. The yellow portion snaps into a connector on the mainboard. It should pop out and then the new one should be able to pop in. Just make sure the four pins are seated in their sockets.

I have been researching this and will test the replacement procedure this week.

I hope this helps.

In the manual, I see a reference to a battery-backed RAM, U3. Could that battery be the cause of this problem? Does anyone know where it's located, and whether there are any tricks to replacing it?

Thanks.
