[Premium-Rx] eBay question

In response to Spencer, Ebay has been plagued by numerous
scam auction items just as described. I reported on this on
SWLing Post

These scammers adopt multiple Ebay identities and switch the
location where the item is allegedly located at. They also disguise
the scam by putting a page asking prospective buyers to bypass
normal Ebay transaction policies -- that page used to be located
in the first photo position, but now the scammer puts that page
on the 2nd or later photo position. I spend a significant amount of
time reporting these items to Ebay and often engage Ebay reps using
Ebay concierge service. Ebay has been doing a better job automatically
deleting these scam listings, but it hasn't stopped this wave of abuse by
these criminals (which is what they are) who are attempting to rip people
off. BTW, as the article at the above URL notes, items that are
frequently
listed include National Panasonic RF-8000, AEG Telefunken 1800A, ICOM
IC-R9000, and sometimes Rhode & Schwarz EB200. I would urge anyone
who wants to participate in helping Ebay control these criminals to do so
and report these items to Ebay. But Ebay does not make that easy -- the
"REPORT" link is located at mid-page on the auction items on the right side.
When an item is successfully reported and taken down, a refresh will bring
up an Error Page. I wish I could say that our efforts to report such
items are
yielding results but each day I see the same criminals re-posting these
same
exact items, usually with the same photos of the item which by the way are
stolen from auctions that are in many cases several years old. I have
wondered
whether Ebay has algorithms that can automatically identify these repeat
photos
and take these auctions down, because the scammers are very adept at
changing
identities and the alleged locations of items and reposting. Also -- a
dead giveaway
to these scam items is that they almost always have a very low starting
price -- frequently
$1.90 or similar rock bottom start level.
Hope this helps those on the Premium list avoid becoming victims of
these scams.
