So,

The 2 x WJ8711-1 and 2 x WJ8712-1 that I picked up for a total of GBP 
£500 from an environmental recycling company were a good deal then?

I sold the 8712s to pay for the 8711s and have had several issues 
needing fixing on the 8711s like replacing the dried out electolytic 
caps in the Condor PSUs, loose VFO knob rotates on its own (lack of 
balance), but both work and are in daily use ;-)
