Hi,
Although I don't have a manual for the 3150 I do have the 3250 and there is
mention of a POST EPROM sum check and an EEPROM CRC test. Those results can
be messages can be interrogated over the serial interface, and don't appear
to be repeated in the BITE.
That is the only mention of the sum check (checksum) test in the manual.
I have seen this sort of problem before with eproms, it has probably
developed "weak bits" . To deal with this you will need an eprom programmer
that can adjust VCC. Read the eprom at different voltage levels from say
between 3.5V or 4.0V to 5V in 0.1V steps. Find where you get consistent CRC
values and then make a copy of the contents at that voltage. Once you've got
consistent data saved you can either erase and reprogram the eproms you
have, or keep those as backups and program some replacements.
You do need to alter VCC and ensure consistent data, as CRC or checksum is
not the most rigorous contents check that can be performed.
Alternatively, perhaps another 3150 owner may make a copy of their eproms so
you can check the contents of yours or just replace them?
Sorry - can't offer any more help than that.
Cheers
Greg

Hello,
I was offered a Cubic CDR-3150 VLF HF receiver.
When switched on it shows:
FAILED POWER ON SELFTEST
Failed Program ROM Sum Check
Press Any Key to Continue
After pressing a key the receiver seems to be fully working. Any idea what
might cause this failure message?
Could it be as simple as an empty Lithium battery?
Anybody has a service manual available or knows a source?
