Randy has answered the "B" question several of you have had,
additionally 4 of you have asked more details on or about the cabinet i
know some about. the manual list 2 cabinets as i recall, one is a rack
mount listing and it features the sliding rails and fold back hinge
allowing for the receiver to be completely pulled out from the rack
cabinet face and mounting holes as well let the receiver flip up or at
several angles.
the second part number is the one as i best recall I ordered direct from
Harris and as i said it was a cool $1,100 at the time. I am unsure
looking back what i was or might have been expecting, but saying it
was/is a cabinet is a stretch. Really i would call it a sleeve and feel
closer in my expectations. But it was and is a cabinet, it has recessed
{Frenched-in} folding non spring loaded handles, but beyond that it is
rather un-remarkable, it is truly a sleeve, it is 3 sided folded Tig
welded aluminum, both ends are folded back in a hem tight radii edge.
The front of the receiver is set back about .750 or so, so not much
protrudes except the black handles. it has a universal punched rack
spacing and 4 nut clips in the matching holes for the receiver, as a
sleeve is is completely OPEN on the back side, it is 3 sided folded so
NO lid that folds open or offers any sort of access, the receiver has to
come out for anything but typical RF IF and AF connections as well DB
25/37 and power cord hook up points.
Recall what Randy's shown cabinet offered had a folding hinged lid, and
SOME cutouts on the enclosed back panel, but not all or every connection
point was accessible i noticed, BUT what did and does give me room to
ponder was the specific cutout for the RF input connector type N that
his set featured. the whole top lid reminded me of a TMC GPR-90 type
cabinet, and it might just be me, but it seemed that the power supply
cutout area was not complete and thereby not exposing the entire
heatsink modual and cooling fins, i tried very hard to cypher this
detail out but just couldn't make a for sure determination from the
great picture set he features [ Randy ]
In this last week 10 days since he shared his great pictures i have
scoured my Harris manuals and none make more or additional mention of
any 3rd part number for a 3 rd cabinet style, and even Randy tells us
or shares he was/is unsure that cabinet was/is factory original. I am at
a 60/40 split it is NOT a HARRIS supplied original cabinet, and with and
nudging i could easily go 50/50 it being original. Where i develop the
60 from is i have had a lot of conversations with the guys at Harris in
the repair dept, and i have not once heard them ever mention OPENING the
lid to test for such and suck point or voltage, it has always be
presumed the receiver was out of any rack or cabinet and top and bottom
covers removed, just leaving the modual covers as required..
I omitted the original cabinet i have has 2 each Teflon skids on the
inside bottom for the receiver to slide on into and thru till the front
panel reaches the stops points, as well four small rubber feet each
alike, the exception that the 2 front ones have about a .750 riser,
giving the receiver a slight tilt from the front to the back.
In my collection i also have the RF-1310 exciter cabinet, i DIDN'T buy
that one, it came with the 1310 exciter i got at the AT&T Pensucco
Florida Transmitting site a long time ago, my cost basis is a whole lot
less for that one, to the point im not embarrassed about it, like the
receiver cabinet..
I will conclude and say the paint colors matched and yes the receiver
looks good inside the cabinet, and it was well protected. The cabinet
had not one Harris marking logo or p/n or any such type ID or claim
number anywhere on the cabinet..
Enough, thanx much.. mac/mc w5mc

Thus, this is not a model difference and only a difference in my labeling. About 3 years ago, I realized that there were variations among a variety of receivers using "alpha" designations and that this was conflicting with my arrangement for designating picture sets. Thus, I began to place a hyphen between the unit and the alpha so that I would not confuse the two. When I saw that your question the other day inquired about a "b" unit, I realized that this was an older set of pictures prior to my making the change in labeling. Thus, I relabeled the album and placed a hyphen between the model and the "b" to make it an R-2368-b to make my picture labeling scheme consistent with what I currently do with pictures. This caused the lin
> ks to stop functioning, but hopefully most readers got a chance to view the pictures before the change. Unfortunately, while the unit had a cabinet, I was not familiar with it's maker or source and so am not helpful to answer this portion of your question.
