Greetings to All List Members,
Can any AEG/Telefunken E1700, E1800 or E1800/3 HF receiver owner advise
me please?
When using the later model Preselector, ES1700/2, in the "Preselector
Out/Bypass" mode do the Bandpass relay switches still operate or are they
actually inhibited from operation?
In the earlier model, ES1700, the Bandpass relay switches operate all the
time above 1.6MHz as they track the tuning up and down the HF Bands. There
is no facility to bypass the Antenna input to output or to stop the relays
switching, which eventually wears the Teledyne relays out..
Whereas, in the ES1700/2, there is a logic input to switch the Preselector
in and out of the RF path.
But does it also inhibit the relay switching at the same time?
The later (and hideously expensive) ES150/2 Preselector had the best of
both worlds. It had Bypass and only activated the Bandpass switching when
slow tuning was used to save wear on the relays.
To complete my E1800/3 module collection I am looking for an ES150/2 -
please contact offline.
May I also take this opportunity to wish all members a healthy and
successful 2015.
