 Hello Peter,

Some thought to add: WJ and some other US made rigs very, very complicated. Thousands ot carbon composition resistors there...replace them all almost unpossible job i think.

And no needed very often. Tolerance 20 percent doing well in many case's, manual with shematics diagrams, original, needed strongly to glance and replace those who most important...

Carbon composition resistors not stable, but they very strong, and probably most stronger for overload currents...Thin film resistors will burned out quickly...
So, advantage and disadvantage in the same time as usually...
