[Premium-Rx] EKD300 help need near Perth, Australia

Hello,
in January 2012 I shipped an East German communications receiver EKD300 to a SWL near Perth, Australia.
The receiver has now developped an intermittend fault. It will work after power on but mostly it will not. 
Unfortunately the owner is not a technician and can't do much troubleshooting himself. He is willing to pay for repair but I am afraid that a commercial shop might charge more than the receiver is worth just to find its way around the receiver in order to perform some basic measurements. Unfortunately the service documentation is in German which might be an additional problem.

Is there anybody in Australia who could help him identify the fault? I do have many parts and even complete modules but shipping cost from Germany to Australia are pretty high and prevent casual shipping of a couple modules just to try them.
