[Premium-Rx] Harris 590 series rx Q please

Readers:  i have a friends 590A receiver here,  the front panel 
'headphone" jack is screwed up and requires replacement.  as i recall 
the audio is present on this jack output UNTIL a 1/4"  ? mono or stereo 
plug is inserted,  can then the local audio ckt is opened and ONLY audio 
is feed to the output jack.  not elsewhere.. inserting the phone plug 
opens the audio ckt .. does this sound correct to you if you have 
experience with this receiver please .. thanx  mac/mc
