AGC decay programming for some WJ-8711A's and HF-1000's - Common and Late
Models
Some features are specific to certain builds. I have an HF-1000A in the shop
that is a late model. You can set the AGC decay by programming special
functions. The HF-1000A that I'm working on has firmware versions U56 -
04.02.06, U12 - 04.01.04, U3 - 1.21
To test the AGC decay feature:
tune to a station of choice
press the special function key until you select AGC THLD
rotate the feature knob to select AGC THLD ON
press the special feature key again to select FST MED or SLO AGC
rotate the knob again to set the decay rate
press the AGC key to save the settings
rotate the special feature knob to select FST MED or SLO
turn the manual gain control to adjust the AGC threshold and engage the AGC
AGC should now decay according to your settings and the AGC threshold. You
can store the settings in channel memory for later use.
BTW - This feature is extremely useful when running the radio in scan mode.
That's how you control the AGC decay feature. If it does not work on your
radio your radio does not have firmware that allows AGC decay programming.
Not all radios are the same.
