Well,
the SAIT receivers are very different animals.
They were made in Denmark by Skanti and relabeled as MR1543 and
MR15401,
equivalent to Skanti R-5000 and R-5001's respectively.
These Skanti receivers were very good for their price, and were
offered to price-conscious ship-owners
when renting ship radio stations from Swedish Telecom Radio
as you got 3 Skanti receivers for the price of one SRT CR305 or 307.
Major differences are:
- Double superheterodyne with 38 and 1,4 MHz IF
- Manual preselector
- No remote control facility
- No ISB
Also, the RF performance is somewhat inferior to the CR30x, as the
synthesizer has more phase noise close to the center frequency.
Nevertheless, the Skanti receivers were a market success.
I have designed with the R.-5000M radiotelex receivers as monitoring
receivers for the DSC and NAVTEX channels,
and the R-5001 as monitoring for the 00 kHz /2182 kHz MF distress and
safety calling channels.
Performance-wise, they were good enough, with a very good
price/performance ratio, as they were free from
an decommissioned radiotelex system. :-)

Hello to All,
Something to add for last discussion about SRT CR302A receivers: Block-
Circuit Diagramm almost the same with MR1543 and MR14501 Marine
Receiver's by
SAIT ELECTRONICS (Belgium) with very minor difference. Mechanicaly
totally different, nothing common. MR1543 with me from 1992- was badly
damaged by sea water
when rocket hit to the ship structure in Persiang Gulf Iran/Irak War
(before)...Fully dismantle and then restored back again, spent one year
for this job...Now in use on SW bands, Modified, Wide band RF
Nuvistor's amplifier added and additional mechanical filters (1.4MHz IF
converted to 500 KHz and back again)...Very nice Radio!
Best Regards, 73,
Boris
