[Premium-Rx] Cubic MTC-100

I believe that you have bought a pair of VHF base station (156 - 162
MHz) equipment
that comes from a large USA VHF maritime radio system that never "took
off".

I remember seeing an exhibition about the project the last time I
visited an RTCM convention in 2000.
The company MariTel had purchased almost all duplex VHF channels in
the US waters at a spectrum auction and planned
to build a nationwide integrated VHF radio network for mariners.

The network was "almost compatible" with the international VHF DSC
(ITU-R Rec 493 and 541) technical and operational standards, which
made
it somewhat difficult to introduce on the market.

Your transmitter and receiver use a network connection of some sort,
most probably proprietary, and they also would need
proprietary software for their operation and maintenance. If the
receiver and transmitter do not have network connections themselves,
the special base station control unit needs to be located.

Hi all,

I have just brought a Cubic MTC-100 marine radio system, for what I
hope is a bargin price.
I'm not interested in the Tx, so if any UK nembers want it can they
let me know off list as it's free to a good home.

Does anyone on the group know anything about these?
