It's an Eddystone 1560R, the receiver section only of the Eddystone 1560
Transceiver which also sold as the Marconi Marine Marlin.
It's an interesting enough marine receiver of its day but a bit quirky and
certainly not one I'd call "premium".
The VFO tunes it as an AM broadcast receiver from 180 to 535KHz and 535 to
1600KHz in two ranges, but it was mainly intended to be used as an SSB
channelised system with 30 user specified channels in the MF marine band
between 1.6 and 4.25MHz plus the 2182KHz emergency channel.
The channnel information was set up in a one time programmable Prom with a
preset capacitor for each frequency.
I've got one with the Prom missing that I'd been planning to get going
just on the VFO but it needs a bit more TLC to get to that stage and a
shortage of information hasn't helped.
There's a very limited partial manual available and I've got some internal
photos I took of mine a while back that will provide a bit more detail
than's shown in that auction, and nope that's nothing to do with me either:-),
and I could make these available for download if anyone is interested.
Regards
Nigel
