Gents

This receiver is deffo an Eddystone.  No question.  It has the same knobs 
and speaker and general "feel" as the older slide rule dial 1870 series.
The link in the eBay posting is to a photo of the complete Marlin 
installation, which at least is badged "Marconi".  Marconi used a number of 
Eddystone models for use at sea - typically the Nebula (Eddytone EC958), and 
most reraders will know that Eddystone were for many years part of the 
GEC-Marconi group.

I agree that it is certainly not a "PR" bit of kit!  That said it might be 
quite good on channels.
