[Premium-Rx] WJ-8615P Receiver Problem

Gentlemen, first off let me wish all of you a Happy New Year!
 
I have a Watkins Johnson WJ-8615P ser. # 824 with FEX-12 option which
works fine, but has a rather annoying problem which I have been unable to
resolve.
 
The “TUNE” bar graph indicator on the front panel of the radio is
unresponsive, and acts in the following way:
When the receiver is tuned anywhere below 500 MHz, the rightmost bar (HI)
is lit and won't move when changing any parameter (Frequency, B/W, etc.).
Conversely,  when the receiver is tuned anywhere above 500 MHz, the
leftmost bar (LO) is lit and won't move when changing any parameter
(Frequency, B/W, etc.). 
In either case, the indicator only lights when a signal activates the
“COR” and opens squelch, which I assume to be normal behavior.

I have tried to troubleshoot the radio for some time, but sadly have not
come up with any course of action.  
Has anyone run across such a fault in an 8615 series receiver and might
be able to provide me with a possible solution/fix, or point me in the
direction of where to look?
