[Premium-Rx] PROM/ EEPROM backups

I have a bunch of stuff that depends upon the 27C16 EEPROM. At one time I
actually did some debugging in machine code to figure out the data
structures where I enabled a few features that did not come as standard on
a radio (separate PL for transmit and receive, frequency ranges, even
adding channels where it would of been expensive to go to Standard Radio
(now a division of Yaesu).

Some of the Motorola gear is the same way and also uses the 27C16 or 27C32
EEPROM. I have taken low band VHF radios and slid them over to the 6 meter
band and made some adjustments to coil spreads, helicals and a few
capacitor value changes.

For the last few years I have even less free time available to chase those
endeavors.

I have reflashed the occasional Spectra firmware to the latest and the
greatest with some success in adding capabilities. Since those chips are
soldered and not socketed in I would put the effort forth for my 6-8
Spectras' but I did not even have time to do work on radios for my friends
(including the electrolytic capacitor changeouts in the receiver audio
circuit.

Now there is such a diverse assortment of firmware packages, some that are
bonded with FPGA reprogramming that I do not even try on the most modern
gear.
