Hello,
I spent some time with my new Cubic R-3030 and discovered a couple
issues. The receiver came out of the RAF in the UK and carries a
nameplate Malborough Communications Ltd, MCR-3030B Dual Receiver, it was
probably just rebadged.
The Cubic R-3030 is actually two identical receivers in a single
cabinet. Overall the cosmetic condition is good but the foil keyboards
are annoying. There is either no contact or the key bounces. Anybody has
a solution for it?

The right receiver is sometimes deaf on some frequencies (half octave
bands). I traced it down to the preselector module or its control. When
I remove the preselector module and put the antenna signal into the
preselector output socket on the base plate receiption is fine. I have
not yet checked if the BCD coded control signals are always there or not.

Today after about 3 hours and the receiver pretty warm while testing and
swapping modules the left receiver went dead. The FAULT light came on
and the FAULT LED on the Fine Loop was lit. After recycling power the
FAULT light was off and didn't come back but there was still no audio. I
discovered that I have receiption when I turn off AGC completely and
adjust rf gain via the keyboard.

I guess that I might have a temperature related fault and probably some
capacitors need to be replaced too.
I downloaded the manual but the schematics are not easy to read. I have
not yet deciphered which module is responsible for the AGC on the left
receiver. If anybody has an original manual for sale or could provide
clear xeroxed copies please contact me.

My receiver has the IEEE-488 remote control. Anybody has a software to
control the R-3030 via IEE-488?
OTH I would prefer a RS-232 module if somebody has one for sale please
contact me.

This is probably a long shot but if somebody has an extender for the
modules I am looking for one.
