[Premium-Rx] Premium-Rx Digest, Vol 68, Issue 3

I have an early version of the R-8001, which i inherited from a former
engineer at Skanti.
As also an owner of some TRP8250 transceivers, I can confirm that
rf-electrically
there are many similarities between the two sets, however the packing is
quite different,
and when studying the manuals I was surprised to see that the processors
used in the control
sections are totally different.
The R-800X series seems to use Motorola 68xx types of processors, whereas
the TRP-8250/8750 uses the Z80 types of processors - i.e. the firmware in
the ROMs
will be quite different at the machine code level. In other words you
cannot interchange
the software between the two types...
