Hi David,

A bit of background history on the SR-500 and Vigilant. Unfortunately I don't access to any manuals or technical information.

The SR-500 was manufactured in the mid 80's to early 90's by a small U.K. startup owned by, I believe, several former Racal employees.

While there is some superficial resemblance to the Racal HF receivers of the time (RA1792 and 6792), it was aimed at the marine/commercial market rather than the high cost military market, and performance was appropriately scaled.

Vigilant was bought by my employer at the time, Grinaker Electronics, Ltd (also known as Grinel ) of South Africa sometime in the 19851988 timeframe .

Grinaker Electronics has also since gone through several consolidations, acquisitions, name changes etc in the interim so I am not sure where you will be able to locate a service manual for the SR-500

I am not sure how many of the SR-500's were actually built or how long Vigilant existed after the timeframe above.

Subject: [Premium-Rx] STC Marine 800 / Vigilant SR500

Hi,

Does anyone out there know anything / have any info on the STC Marine
800 / Vigilant SR500 receiver.
I've just acquired one, and although it hasn't arrived yet, I thought
I'd try and track down some info on it.

It may have been manufactured by ITT as well, but I can't find anything
much about it anywhere on the net.

http :// www . radiopics .com/Marine%20Receivers/Vigilant_%20SR500. htm

I'm looking for any service info / user manual's Etc.

Thanks as usual,
Dave.S.
