G'day Blair,

People have tried that and ended up with the driver tubes overheating and 
failing. Its not just the amount of air, but also the way it flows through the 
chambers.

Like you, I keep my equipment as original as possible and after doing a lot of 
research decided not to attempt any of the elaborate modifications and instead 
use a piece of foam to reduce the noise of my "Air Raid Siren".
