The output I am asking about is the digital serial output from the 15 pin
D connector J7. From the connector info in the manual there is a serial
data output, a clock, and a frame sync. Looks like it will remain a mystery!

------------------
Ah, that's different from any I and Q outputs

The manual describes the serial interface board as carrying line drivers
for both RS232 and RS422, which could explain the pos and neg data outputs,
but the serial clock and frame sync as shown on the interconnect diagram
imply synchronous serial comms rather than asynchronous.

I've also noticed that the interconnect diagram doesn't actually show the
IQ signals routed to the rear panel anyway, which is a bit odd as it's
stated in the text that they are.

Shame, that could make for some fun experiments, although with the final IF
frequency being at 24KHz it seems that sound card based demodulation
might not be an easy option after all.

I'm wondering now if, as with the 3030, there were different versions of
the rear panel interface.
