Hi France,
The web site you need is: www.1792lcd.com
As you will see in the photos on that site, the design of the numbers is
not identical to the original, rather more upright and slightly less
easy on the eye. However they are still a huge improvement if your
displays have reached the end of their life and can turn what would
otherwise be a 'junker' into a useful receiver.
A few comments about these:
1. They have a reflective backing behind the displays so are not
really suitable for a backlit version of the 1792 as they stand.*
2. The legs on the displays are not as substantial as the originals so
you have to be careful to ensure that they all line up and don't get
bent during installation.
3. The front face has a clear protective film which must be removed
after installation - it's so clear that I initially thought the display
was damaged!
*I wanted to use the displays in a backlit 1792, so I peeled off the
protective clear film from the rear of the display, then peeled off the
carrier for the reflective tape, leaving the sticky silver residue. I
then soaked the entire display in methylated spirits and carefully
rubbed off the silver backing using a cotton bud (Q-tip in the USA?).
You have to be very careful to use the minimum amount of pressure to do
this and the process takes about an hour, but it is possible. Both
modified displays are working well in my receiver after a year or so,
but of course I can't tell if my 'treatment' has had any long term effects.
