Gentlemen,

Here's a short summation of my previous posts - my WJ-8711A-3 receiver
functions normally when set to most detection modes including ISB, but
malfunctions when set to USB or LSB.
I have since also discovered that I am unable to communicate with the
radio via its RS-232 port.

Having run various tests and listened to the advice of many helpful
members for the past week, I have come to the following conclusion
regarding my faulty radio:
Since the BFO in this radio is not implemented with conventional
"hardware" but is simply part of an elaborate mathematical algorithm, I
strongly believe that the problem is the result of either defective or
incorrect firmware.
The Internal Control EPROM presently installed in the radio has the
unusual version number of "8711A-3 / A2 U12 / 01.00.00" instead of the
more standard "04.01.10".
This reinforces my suspicion that this EPROM is a special firmware
version designed by WJ as per a customer's special requirements.

In order to prove my theory, and with any luck fix my receiver, I would
like to ask any member who is in possession of an HF-1000A or WJ-8711A
that utilizes a "04.01.10" Internal Control EPROM to please contact me
directly.

Thank you in advance and best regards,

Pete [KA5FUN]
