Hi,
It is not an easy question answer & you really need to know the background.
I split an R-71E about 6 months ago, parts went to 5 counties to get
multiple radios servicable again. One guy didn't have the input filter,
another needed the PSU, another the case lower section, etc etc. I had
offered the radio for sale & as it had been in a commercial environment
& wasn't a good looker there was no interest. I probably made $50 more
than it was worth complete, but had to field a multitude of questions &
pack/post about 8 parcels. Was it worth it for the $$, no way...but as a
service to the radio community...yes.
I also have a some RA6790GMs. One working RA6790GM is "well used" & has
issues, as well as the added attraction of bent side rails. Now
probably 'cause I don't know when to give up, I have recently bought yet
another to act as a donor, plus it had the added lure of Collins
filters. Which one will become the parts box is unknown as yet.
At the end of the day, most of a 6790 spare will be spare & I'll have 2
VGC goers. I'll probably sell the remaining parts & again they will be
used to keep multiple radios alive. If I recover my $$ back I'll be
happy, if I get extra I'll be surprised.
There is no correct answer, as it is purely a matter of perspective.
Regards & thanks for an informative list, Kim VK7ZZB
