I've decided to part with a very high end and still classified modern
Watkins-Johnson receiver. DRS Technologies informed me I cannot post or
discuss via e-mail any details including the model number because the
internet has no geographical boundaries. They requested the serial
number and verified the radio is legal for private ownership (as long as
you keep mum about it.) These restrictions limit discussion to in
person, snail-mail or telephone calls from US exchanges. A data sheet
can be found at Kongsford (he told me he'll leave it up until someone
knocks on the door. I follow the rules exactly because my research and
my ability to publish depend on it.)

The asking price is small fraction of the original $200,000 price tag.
The radio is near mint and in excellent operational condition. It
includes cables for co-located operation and a full, fat printed service
and operation manual. This is a radio with knobs and buttons that can
be easily operated without a computer, although I assume the computer
control can take it to another level. The computer interface is
untested as software is, to my knowledge, unavailable to mere mortals
like me.

This item is for sale only in the US. Legally it can be shipped to any
allied NATO country, but I don't want the hassle and risks of exporting
it. My sources tell me a few years after this radio was introduced, a
non-NATO country offered a $1 million bounty to anyone who could smuggle
one to them. If you are a high end radio enthusiast, you will want one
almost as badly.
