why not use a 1F or 0.5F Super Cap you can get at Mouser.

Or how about 2 x AAA rechargeable NiMH ( or NiCAD ) batteries in
series.

Some batteries may require series resistance to limit discharge.
If you have access to service manual, it would be good to take a look.

both 2.4V and 3.6V will do, you may need series resistor for 3.6V.

i dont think dataguard is no longer made.

last choice is to remove the top cover of the case and replace the
cells.  hard to to do though.
