[Premium-Rx] RA1772 and 1778 manufacturing dates

I wrote a little article about the RA1792 for last years' World Radio and TV
Handbook and am currently thinking about a piece on the 177x family for the
next edition. In connection with this I'm trying to establishing
manufacturing dates for the 1772 and 1778. 

I've recently seen some 1772s which have serial numbers in the 211x region
and are dated 8236. The earliest was 98x and dated 7848. It would be
interesting to know when production began and ended. The highest-numbered
1778 I've heard of was one on eBay a while ago which was 425. From the
write-up I'd guess this was made in 1980 but again it would be interesting
to know more. My own example is about two years older than this. 

Any owners out there with early and late 177x receivers?
