I see Radio-Mart avoided showing a photo of the filter board, which, based
on the photo from the auction he bought it from, is empty. How it is "full
of special filters" escapes me. It's full of something, that's for sure.
There were a bunch of negative comments about this radio over on the Yahoo
RA6790 group.
He also says he has been using it on all modes, which seems surprising since
the filters are missing and there's a bunch of unrelated plumbing cobbled in
instead.
Anzac makes microwave filters, attenuators, switches and so forth. One of
the unrelated pieces of plumbing has an Anzac tag on it so the seller has
decided to call it a "rare Anzac model." This is most likely some
engineer's homebrew-modified radio for a special application such as data or
RDF, as it did not come from Racal like that.
I guess this auction shows how much more money a creative description can
get. I notice that after all the hyperbole, he was selling it "as-is" with
no returns.
