I bought an old, 100 watt Harris CW Transmitter RF-716A (eBay $100).
You plug a crystal into the front panel. It is mostly solidstate, except for
the final and driver tube. The front panel has a switch that switches
between the crystal and an external exciter (a BNC on the back).

I plan to use this transmitter as an amplifier, plugging it into
my RF-1310 exciter. I may have to rewire to change the amplifier Class.

Sincerely
/b
