[Premium-Rx] Tentec RX330A Questions

John,

It sounds like the receivers are in what Ten Tec calls the "Factory Test
Mode". Try setting the first (#1, left) switch on S2 to the other
position.

The differences between the 330, 330A, 330B and 331 are minor and only
affect the AGC setup. The same commands work on all of the them.

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Tentec RX330A Questions

Firstly a vote of thanks to Greg and Jan for doing a great job in
keeping the list running smoothly, especialy over the recent change of
server..

I just acquired a couple of Tentec RX330A HF DSP receivers, but no
information. Using an RX340 manual, and making the assumption that the
computer interface would be similar, I managed to establish comms with
hyperterminal on a PC.

However, immediately both radios continually send a stream of mysterious
messages to the PC. The radios will accept input commands while this is
going on and act upon them, but I would welcome any information on what
the messages are and how to turn them off.

Typical messages are 16R49C LOCKED 16R59C LOCKED 16R4C INTERN, etc. etc
in a continuous stream.

In between all this I managed to invoke the 3 levels of BITE (pass/fail,
assembly and system). All seem to pass or fail, seemingly at random,
even
though the radio appears to be working in that it will pick up broadcast
stations fine.

Is there any way to get more information out of the BITE tests to
determine what it thinks is failing?

The firmware is V1.11 dated 1995. Is there any more recent firmware out
there?

And finally, what are the differences between the 330A, the 331 and the
340 (apart from the front panel on the 340!)?

TIA for any help.

Regards

John Green.
