Thanks for getting the board up..
I'm trying, thanks for the info on setting OE.
This machine is doing strange thing, hope this works!
The M9D mixer in my A3 converter was blown. After some study of the
specs I ordered a TAK-3H from MCL, its better than the SRA-3 at LV and
VLF. I had to cut a couple of traces and add two jumpers. It seems to
work well despite the images. My 8718 doesn't have the A2 791616 RF
filter so I'm looking for one or something from another receiver that
would work. Any tips or ideas appreciated. In the meantime I'm going to
see how my Drake TV-1000-LP works. I suspect it's not as flat nor does
it have as many sections as the A2. I also need a few SMC threaded
jumpers, the snap on ones I have just don't make solid lasting contact.
The M9D board has a resistor R4, selected 68 ohm 1/8 resistor going to
ground from IN of FL1. Someone before me unsoldered it and I haven't
reconnected it except temporarily to see what effect it has. When it's
grounded the gain seems to drop a bit becasue I hear a bit less noise.
I haven't had a chance to do much testing but yesterday on 40 and 20
meters the sensitivity was not as good as my Kenwood Ts-2000 or Icom
R75. Very, very, very weak stations that could be detected but not
deciphered on the newer radios were not heard on the 8718. However if
the station was strong enough to be deciphered the 8718 picked it up, no
problem. I'm guessing that the the 75 and 2000 both have lower noise
floors and they have RF preamps. But it could be alignment too.
tnx
