Hi,
Had a local (Boston) mil-spec packing house build some plywood and foam
boxes for R-390A. Less than $100 and robust.
My RF-590 came in a heavy cardboard box with cut foam
see:
http://www.jillsokboxes.com/ ; mother of the reporter who wrote the gud
BPL piece awhile back.
Possible to find surplus Hardigg boxes on egad or maybe from Mike
Murphy; sometimes less expensive than hi-test cardboard box.
U-cut foam for above.
Have had some boxes made for shipping gear we produce; costs more than
one might think.
73,
Steve
