[Premium-Rx] Questions about Watkins Johnson 8618B (S 1)

Hi,

I have a few questions about my Watkins Johnson
8618B (S 1). It appears the battery is dead for the
memories. I would like to open it up, remove the old
batteries so they do not leak, and make up a suitable
replacement. Can someone clue me in on where the
battery is, and what voltage it was?

Second, my COR functionality seems to be broken - if
set to 2 or greater, it never unsquelches, even on VHF
if a station pops up 60dB. Any advice on where to
start looking?

I have the SSB option. I note a notch in the audio
output around 1kHz -- is this normal or a problem with
my unit?

Finally, I looked at the line out on a scope, and it
appears to be about 10V p-p. The impedance is 600
Ohms. I need to take that down to about 1V p-p for
input into a computer soundcard or a modem. What is
the nominal impedance of consumer level "line in" so I
can design the proper PAD?

Regards,
Ben
