[Premium-Rx] Cubic 3036 Receiver, Q&A

Gentlemen:

A friend of mine has a Cubic 3036 receiver. This unit appears similar to the 3030, i.e. two receivers in one 18" rack mount, membrane pushbuttons, single large tuning knob, etc.

When power is applied the internal test program is operated and it comes back with a flashing: "rEF" on the LED display. Even when the 'rEF' is flashing, the keypad responds so it appears that the electronics are operating.

When the internal 'reference' module is removed from the 3036, and power is again applied, the internal test program indicates a failure and the receiver refuses to allow any operation.

Based on this, he thinks there must be a software setting that is causing the receiver to look for an external or internal reference. The 3036 does not have an external mechanical switch like the 3030 allowing you to select between the internal and external reference.

Is it possible that the 3030 has an external mechanical switch, and the 3036 has a software switch. And if it is a software switch, what is the menu leading him to the control of the software switch?

Any information would be helpful-
