John,
My new QTH and present place have no dimmers because a variac will not fit
in a wall electrical box. Triacs and SCRs generate a voltage step even while
full on. This is very hard to filter. How about a remote motorized
variac..... Fc

Subject: [Premium-Rx] "quiet" dimmers
Hi group!
As I near completion of building our new house, I need to address
radio-related issues and how they interact with the house systems. While I
heavily filter the AC feeds and power condition/isolate/regulate voltages, I
still need to be careful with appliances and controls.
Does anyone out there have recent experience with a light dimmer that can
operate in the presence of sensitive receivers without causing all sorts of
RF noise, both radiated and conducted?
Any input most appreciated.
John Collins
