Computer control of the 590 or any Harris product is akin to pushing a 
snowball uphill ..

as for operation, the set is very intuitive, it's just about self 
explanatory .. even to programming scan modes and channels ..this i'm sure 
does not obviouscate your need for a manual, but at the same time you are 
not missing any big hidden trove of features, the set is just to simple to 
operate,  and it's lack of add on features { band pass,pass band tuning, 
more than one filter width per mode } keeps it pretty simple   ...  turn it
