Well
The fault light comes and the frequency LCD displays a single A
I changed the A6A2 board it can't find the filters installed on the A4 board
BTW the battery on the A6A2 board may be flat

It's actually rather hard to understand what you mean Lee.  There is no 
"BITE light", but there is a fault light that will come on when one of 
the phase lock loops is unlocked.   Anything other than the frequency in 
the frequency display area usually means there is a fault on the A6A2 
cpu board, most commonly round the RAM area.  All zeros is the reset 
condition and can occur when one of the supply voltages is absent. 

There is only very rarely an RF amplifier fitted, and if there were, 
there is no cpu control of it, only internal links, like the RA1792.
