Jan,
TNX for the kind words. BTW you can go to ARRL QEX and download the article
for free. There is added entertainment because the pictures are in color.
At 46 volts it will do 1000 watts carrier out and easily hit 5000 watts AM
peak output without breaking a sweat.
I cleaned the shack for the picture.....or should I say my new scope TEK7904
Was a nice clean flat surface to set up the test. I did move the scope off
the floor so I can sit at the microscope. fc

Hi Gang ....
Another one of our list members has published an interesting article in the
latest issue of QEX - the ARRL publication aimed at communications
experimenters.
On the assumption that to receive, someone must transmit, Francis outlines
the design of a 1500 watt class E amplifier for 160/80 and 40 meters. He
uses a bank of inexpensive switching power supply FETs running on a 50VDC
supply - and one of the largest heat sinks I've seen lately!
For anyone interested in building stuff - as both Greg and I are - the
pictures on page 26 - the amplifier test setup and the assembled amplifier
- are inspirational!!
Nice work Francis .....
