John,
I have an S1 and hope the following comments are of some value.
1. My recollection agrees with the previous email.
2. I found that the dipswitches in my S1 was really worn out and
intermittent. Evidently they aren't designed for long term / continuous
use. I had to replace them.
3. I also noticed that with the FEX and the tracking preselector
installed there was some interaction in terms of the enables. I don't
remember the exact issue, but it was something like you couldn't have
them enabled at the same time. I was never sure if that was a problem
with my radio, or a "feature" of the design.

Hi Alan,
I don't have the documentation in hand, so this may be easier or harder
than I describe, but I think the S1 versions are pre-firmwared for all
the options--that is, a switch flip will arm the option, and if the
proper option is plugged in (it must be a S1 version option), the
receiver will be set up for extended tuning. Obviously, you'd need the
cables and hardware, but that is usually found on the option already.
I'm pretty sure that the rx and option firmwares have to match, etc etc.
If you need more info, I may have a manual whose thrust is to guide the
field installation of the option. Please advise if you do need it, and
I can dig through the move boxes here.
overall, good luck to you on this
John

There seems to be a number of 861X-X 1 S1 receivers out there.
A few have the low frequency option and the FEX option which
goes to 1200 MHz.
Hardware wise they all look the same.
What is needed to add the low frequency option and the high
frequency options?
If it is E proms, does any one sell them as a programmed set?
Thanks
Al
