No surefire trick on this one...alas
I'd start with cleaning contacts & connectors for demodulator boards
A11,A12; audio board A13 and gain control board A14
Every time my Quad 8 stutters, I clean & clean & clean.
Worked every time until now !
Hi Peter
It's good to hear from you and many thanks for the advice.
Cleaning the edge connectors was the first thing I tried.
Those you mentioned were first and showing enough obvious marks that I
cleaned all the others too.
Got high on the alcohol but didn't cure the problem:-)
I must admit though that I only cleaned the pcb edges and not the chassis
sockets so that might be worth a try.
When I was first checking it over it did seem to burst into life for a
moment on USB so it could be something simple....
or I could have pressed the wrong button.
It's also been suggested that poor earthing can cause similar problems so
that might be another simple fix.
I have lots to do to day but will try and find some play time later to track
signals through it and hopefully see exactly what's going on.
It doesn't help that the extender board is missing but I can check below the
edge connectors.
The A16 remote board is also missing.
I know that shouldn't affect local operation but is it common to find that
not fitted?
regards
Nigel
