Amen, Clemins...My findings exactly.....The digital hash from the WJ also
needs to be taken into account....They're both fun to use, and I won't part
with either. But the 7800 has a feel to it that is solid and well worth the
expenditure. These opinions are highly subjective, which makes the hobby what
it is.....

Don however has taken these rx's out to the field and has battle tested
them, so I feel his points are valid. The audio recovery on the WJ is truly
superb and the SAM is hard to beat. Plus, the WJ allows a direct connection to
the SE-3. A shame that the 7800 does not have a 455 IF output.

I sent my Icom R-9000 into Sherwood for IF output modification to make it
compatible with the SE-3. Also added other filters for AM (3/4/6 kHz) and the
external fan. This receiver is very quiet and compares favorably to the WJ
on BCB, too.

The ideal situation is to have all of them running through a lossless, high
quality multicoupler for a more direct comparison. The restored EAC R390A
beats them all! Simply amazing.....
