in my opinion you have already found 90 % of the fault .
Let me explain , if you have found that with a small pressure on the filter the situation changes they have 3 possibility :
1) a dry solder on filter pins at printed board level (but i think you have already checked )
2) a track cutted between the track and trough hole where the filter is inserted
3) a dry joint inside the filter (i hope for you that is not the case)
for this last situation you can do this but is a little bit complicate , if you do not have any replacement filter you can swap the 6 khz filter with an other one ( the bandwith is not important because in the self test only the levels are measured and not the passband ) this means that you have to dismount an other filter.
Obviously if you make this the fault will be related to another position.
What is more 'technical ' is to measure the input and output levels with adequate instrument ,in this case when the 6 khz filter is faulty you will found a output level that is not correct .
I assume in all those conditions that you really note that on 6 khz position there is a real problem at hears level (audible sound), otherways the problem is the self test.
Me i be somebody can give other suggestion.Wat i have suggested for point 3 ( swap of filters) is a 'desert' solution and you have to be a good workman for soldering and desoldering.
let me now your progress on repair francesco (i8fym/fe6eqj)
