[Premium-Rx] Grounding Receivers

Depends on the insurance company, the state, and local regs. There is no stock
answer but I can guarantee you trouble if the cause of the fire is determined to
have anything to do with your wiring.

Here (in westchester county, NY), all new electrical work must be inspected and
approved by the Fire Underwriters (electrical work inspection), although for
small jobs this is frequently ignored. I know it is possible to have isolated
ground systems which meet code. Do you know any electricians? You may want to
get one to sign off on the work and get the inspector in to give it his blessing.

Since I had a lot of work done in my house 6 years ago I haven't connected up
anything electrically which involves more than plugging stuff in. Of course,
should anything happen I still know I will have to fight the insurance company
but at least I will have a stronger position with everything having been
properly signed off.
