QC problems on these sets were a myth, and ancient history. Forget that.
 They are a great value for the money, especially used. The menu driven system takes some getting used to, but the radio is a real performer. Used like jellybeans in Europe. For my money, runs off and leaves the Drake R8, I have both.
They are a good company, peruse their website, the info is for real. Look at the reviews in back issues of WRTH and Passport. All you need to know.
Universal does not sell them anymore, btw. But gettable elsewhere, and in Canada.
